LIR Services
Take control of your network's identity. As an official RIPE NCC member, we provide expert guidance for acquiring and managing your own ASN, IPv4, and IPv6 resources.
Your Foundation for a Scalable Network
AS Number
Establish your network's unique identity on the internet to enable multi-homing and independent routing policies.
View ASN Services ↓IPv4 Addresses
Acquire scarce Provider Aggregatable (PA) IPv4 address space directly from a trusted RIPE partner.
View IPv4 Services ↓IPv6 Addresses
Future-proof your network by obtaining a large, portable block of next-generation IPv6 addresses.
View IPv6 Services ↓Define Your Network's Identity
An Autonomous System Number (ASN) is your network's official identifier, allowing you to exchange routing information with other networks via BGP. It's the key to multi-homing for redundancy and controlling how the world connects to your infrastructure.
Our Process
We simplify the RIPE application process by guiding you every step of the way, from documentation to final allocation.
- 1.Consultation to verify your multi-homing plan.
- 2.Assistance with preparing required documentation.
- 3.Submission and communication with RIPE on your behalf.
Requirements & Pricing
You must provide:
- A copy of your company registration certificate.
- Contact details for at least two upstream providers (peers).
- A brief description of your routing policy.

Secure Your Digital Real Estate
Whether you need to connect with the legacy internet via IPv4 or prepare for the future with a large IPv6 allocation, we can help you justify and acquire the address space your network needs to grow.
IPv4 PA Allocation
Acquire scarce Provider Aggregatable IPv4 space. Perfect for hosting providers and services that require dedicated IPs.
Key Requirements:
- Must have an existing LIR account or be creating one.
- Demonstrate usage plan for 50% of the requested block within 2 years.
- Requires detailed network planning documentation.

IPv6 PI/PA Allocation
Obtain a large /48 or greater block of future-proof IPv6 addresses. Provider Independent (PI) options available for maximum portability.
Key Requirements:
- Must have an existing LIR account or be creating one.
- Plan to announce the block via BGP within 2 years.
- Simpler justification process than IPv4.

LIR FAQ
Your questions about RIPE policies and IP address management, answered.
What is a Local Internet Registry (LIR)?
A Local Internet Registry (LIR) is an organization, like NordicVM, that is a member of a Regional Internet Registry (RIR) such as RIPE NCC. As an LIR, we are authorized to receive allocations of IP address space from RIPE and distribute those resources to our customers.
What's the difference between PA and PI address space?
Provider Aggregatable (PA) space is "loaned" to you and must be announced by us, the provider. If you change providers, you must return the PA space. Provider Independent (PI) space is assigned directly to your organization by RIPE and is portable, meaning you can take it with you to any provider. PI space offers greater long-term flexibility but has stricter justification requirements.
Why do I need to justify my need for IP addresses?
RIPE NCC manages IP addresses as a shared, finite public resource. The justification process ensures that addresses are distributed to organizations with a demonstrated technical need, preventing hoarding and promoting efficient use of the address space. This is especially critical for the scarce supply of remaining IPv4 addresses.
